
About the Author
A writer, director and cinematographer, Youcef Khemane began his career at a young age in the community sector, leading photography and video workshops for young people in his neighbourhood. He then joined the press agency CAPA, where he worked for several years on programmes for France 5 and Canal Plus. Following training as a director of photography, he has spent over fifteen years shooting numerous documentaries and television reports for France Télévisions (*Le Doc Stupéfiant!*, *Envoyé Spécial*, *Cash Investigation*, *Complément d'enquête*), Canal+ (*Bonsoir*, *Le Tube*, *L'Effet Papillon*, *Enquêtes de foot*) and ARTE (*Invitation au voyage*). As a director, he has written and directed several documentaries for television, including *Être noir à l'Opéra* for Arte in 2024, *L'Arabe dans le poste* in 2023, and co-directed *50 nuances de flics* for France 5 in 2021. In fiction, he wrote and directed his first short film in 2018, *Chahine*, which was selected for the Unifrance Prize at the Cannes Film Festival that same year and screened at numerous festivals in France and abroad. *Chahine* was broadcast on TV5 Monde in 2019.
