About the Author

Background

A writer, director and cinematographer, Youcef Khemane began by leading photo and video workshops in the community sector before joining the CAPA press agency. For over fifteen years, he has shot numerous documentaries for France Télévisions, Canal+ and Arte. As a director, he wrote and directed Être noir à l'Opéra (Arte, 2024), L'Arabe dans le poste(2023) and co-directed 50 nuances de flics (France 5, 2021). His fiction short film Chahine (2018) was selected for the Unifrance Prize at Cannes and broadcast on TV5 Monde in 2019.
