About the Author

Background

A writer-director trained at the University of Paris 8, Virginie Bluzat explores a sensual, embodied cinema centered on the body and matter. A costume designer for ten years on auteur features (Liberté by Tony Gatlif, Aliyah by Élie Wajeman, Vénus Noire by Abdellatif Kechiche), she honed her directing on set. Her short The Scratch (2022) won an award at the Indie Short Fest (Los Angeles); Corps à corps was selected for the pitching workshop at the Brive Medium-Length Film Festival. She then made Flooded Realms (Go Short 2025), as well as Aquaponik and Blockhaus, and is currently developing several feature films.
