Meditalents had the pleasure of presenting the Meditalents Award to L’ultimo giorno d’inverno, a project by Italian filmmaker and artist Emma Onesti, during the closing of the In Progress MFN 2025 workshop, held as part of the Venice International Film Festival.
For several years now, Meditalents has been a partner of the Milano Film Network, the first Italian platform bringing together festivals and professional initiatives around independent cinema. This long-standing collaboration allows us each year to offer one project from the In Progress workshop a direct selection into LabDoc, our Mediterranean residency dedicated to the writing of creative documentaries. The partnership thus forms a true bridge between Italy and the Mediterranean, linking a leading laboratory for emerging Italian authors with an international space for development and networking.
The Meditalents Award includes the invitation of the winning project to LabDoc 2026, where it will benefit from dedicated writing time, mentorship, and the collective dynamic of authors from across the Mediterranean. For L’ultimo giorno d’inverno, this marks an important new step, offering the opportunity to extend and deepen the work begun at MFN.
We warmly congratulate Emma Onesti, whose project was also recognized by other Milano Film Network partners during this edition—a sign of the originality and artistic strength of her work. Her film, which sensitively explores a singular place where life and death coexist, convinced the jury with its poetic and courageous approach.
Our sincere thanks go to the Milano Film Network for this valuable collaboration, and we look forward to welcoming L’ultimo Giorno d’Inverno in 2026 at LabDoc, alongside other Mediterranean projects in search of writing time and professional opportunities.
