About the Author

Background

A 2020 Berlinale Talents alumna, Selda has edited several award-winning feature films that have screened at major international festivals, including Sundance, Tokyo, Venice, Toronto, Karlovy Vary, and Tallinn. Her work in the film industry has been recognized with multiple accolades, including the Best Editing Award at the 40th Istanbul International Film Festival. Selda is an active member of the European Film Academy and the Film Editors Society of Turkey. She is currently developing her debut feature film as writer-director, The Guardians of the Old Lady. Morad has written and directed four acclaimed short films (HENET WARD, WHAT WE DON’T KNOW ABOUT MARIAM, KHADIGA, and I PROMISE YOU PARADISE) all of which have been selected for the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival, and have screened at over 500 festivals worldwide, winning  round 200 local and international awards, were also screened on Shahid, OSN,   and Canal+. His first feature film, AISHA CAN'T FLY AWAY, won the Final Cut Award at the 81st Venice  nternational Film Festival and will have its world premiere at the 78th Cannes Film Festival's Un Certain  regard, becoming the first Egyptian film to do so in almost a decade.
