About the Author

Background

Leila is a Lebanese director and photographer based in Prague. She holds an MFA in film directing from FAMU. Her short documentary The Adam Basma Project was shortlisted for the 48th Student Academy Awards and screened at various international festivals. Her graduation film Sea Salt premiered in the Orizzonti official competition at the 80th Venice Film Festival. Leila is a mentor in screenwriting and directing at FAMU and the founder of Arab Girls in Film, a platform dedicated to supporting Arab women, trans, and non-binary filmmakers in the region and the diaspora. She is currently developing her first feature film Running with Beasts and her first documentary Dance with Me.
